Candidate Testing


Psychometric testing is a valuable tool we use in the search for exceptional talent.
Traditional selection methods such as resume screening and interviewing most often provide visibility of surface level candidate qualities (i.e. technical knowledge, education, experience). However there are a number of underlying core attributes which are key to successful performance which are harder to observe.

Pre-interview Testing


An integral component of the Natural Selection approach is our pre-interview testing methodology utilizing. This method ensures that only highly suitable candidates get to the first interview stage irrespective of their ability to produce a high quality application. Many candidates applying for a position will look good on paper and appear to be highly suitable for the position. This however is not always the case. Natural Selection’s pre-interview testing is a proven method for differentiating a legitimate candidate from someone who has simply ‘constructed’ a suitable application.

The Natural Selection model adds another level of sophistication by combining Banjar Groups comprehensive sales management and sales competency models to the existing traits and behavioural competencies used in the diagnostic. The result is an instrument that can accurately and consistently predict the suitability of a candidate to your organisation and the specific sales function you are recruiting for.

What does Psychomteric testing provide?
  • A deeper insight into a candidate’s individual characteristics including their working style, preferences and motivators.
  • A deeper understanding of both strengths and development areas for induction of successful candidates.
  • A standardised measurement of a candidate’s ability or skill to perform an essential work task.
  • A fair and equitable process.

The Tests
Natural Selection incorporates our own Sales Science into the testing process to distinguish between order-takers and sales-makers. Typically they cover:
  • Ability Questionnaire: Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning and Abstract Reasoning.
  • Personality Questionnaire: People’s preferred behaviour at work.
  • Sales Preference Questionnaire : Assess the presence, predisposition, and degree of sales prospecting reluctance.
