The School of St Jude, Tanzania
In July 2009 Banjar Group began their sponsorship of the School of St Jude in Tanzania, East Africa. The school was opened in 2002 by a young Australian woman, Gemma Sisia, with help from her family, friends and the local Rotary Club. What started with a handful of children and one teacher is now a thriving school of almost 1200 children, 130 teachers and 200 staff.
We believe The School of St Jude is Africa’s largest private school offering quality education to the poorest of the poor and the only school in Africa achieving such outcomes on such a scale. The reason for supporting the school is to provide the best possible education for the students and at present Banjar Group are supporting 2 rooms of boarders in the Boarding School and a teacher; Ms Anande Mirisho Pallangyo. |
This sponsorship will provide water, electricity and food for 16 student boarders. As well as adult mentoring and supervision. Banjar supports the school's philosophy of "Fighting Poverty through Education" and helping children break the poverty cycle.
With the launch of our Sales Cats book in 2010, we commenced a program by which all the proceeds from the sale of the book are forwarded to the school. Many of our wonderful clients and associates support this endeavour and continue to contribute to the school every time they re-order the book.
